Assembly Animoto

Assembly Thoughts...

As I sat down I felt nervous, actually really nervous.  As I stood for the karakia  I was sweating and as red as a beetroot because it was my turn to speak next.  I felt as scared as a mouse as I stood by the microphone because there were thousands of faces looking at me. “Well done Year 5 and 6’s…” the words just flew off my tongue, I felt spectacular.

I felt nervous when singing the karakia and the Hiwi the Kiwi song. In assembly we shared some water safety messages, some of our class were dressed up and we shared our charcoal drawings. I saw my mum come in and I froze like a statue.

On Friday we were putting on an amazing assembly. We waited for the audience. I waited for my turn. Finally it was my here, my heart was like a cheetah’s after it had been chasing a zebra.  I was a nervous as I had been a couple of weeks earlier when I had to get into the freezing cold pool. “Let others know before you go!” I spoke clearly into the microphone. I felt so proud of myself!

What a brilliant day!

Thank you very much for all of the wonderful support that Room 9 had today for their assembly.
We had an absolute blast and hope you enjoyed seeing a snippet of our learning journey so far!

Marching Along......

Where has the term gone?
There has been camp, tennis, an Art Gallery visit, Swimming Demos, Hiwi the Kiwi ... but wait there is still more so stay tuned :)
The Year 5's had a brilliant time at Konini Lodge we tramped up a storm but thankfully not in one!  Every alternate week we have been fortunate enough to have two fabulous coaches from Tennis NZ impart their expertise with us.  We ventured to the art gallery where Chris shared his wonderful knowledge on landscapes and we created our own wax and Indian Ink master pieces.  A couple of weeks ago we also celebrated our swimming successes with everyone who could make it, we were so lucky with the gorgeous day and our Year 5's also celebrated in style their swimming abilities down at the Highlands pool last week.  And to top last week off we had a brilliant visit from Hiwi the Kiwi who got us rocking into the weekend.
So Room 9 have hung up their goggles and dusted off their sneakers as we have been training for the Great Frankley Triathlon!!! I hope that everyone has got into the spirit and is giving it ago.  The training has gone up a notch at our house as riding a bike on grass is a little more difficult than concrete!!
Week 8 see's Room 9 hosting assembly on Friday, so we will be busy preparing this week and collecting together bits of our learning which we will share with everyone at 2:15 pm on Friday.  We would love to see you there :)
In Week 9 we have 3 way conferences.  This is a great opportunity for us to show you what wonderful things we've done and where we are heading in our learning.  I 'm sorry that the Thursday schedule is shorter, however I am willing to see you any other time that is convenient with you.
That's all from Room 9 for now.
Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you in assembly on Friday :)
